Our school is lucky to capture the great outdoors amidst an urban environment. The grass is green, plants are plentiful, and the air is fresh in the Fairmile yard. We encourage students to spend ample time outdoors, be it playing on the swing set, walking around the garden, laying on the hammock, or engaging with the chickens.

In the backyard of our compound is a big vegetable garden, home to dozens of crops like spinach, french beans, tomatoes, bell peppers, eggplants, carrots, and more. It's completely organic, fresh, and homegrown by our founder, Fern, and the grounds staff. When the time is ripe, our students love to help out by harvesting the fruits and vegetables, many of which, are cooked in the gluten and casein free meals provided to students everyday.

Also in the backyard is our chicken coop! Home to about 20 chickens, the grounds staff, occasionally with the help of our student, looks after our chickens as a dynamic part of our environment. They're a source of organic eggs that we also use in the kitchen.
